Personal Philosophy Statement
•
Everyone deserves a chance to reach his or her full potential. Nowhere is this truer than health. Unfortunately, most people don’t reach their full health potential (and therefore their potential in other areas of life) because they have been misguided and misled as to the true nature of what health is and what it means to be healthy. The statistics on how poorly the American medical model of health (sickness) care is doing are staggering. The vast majority of American disease is preventable with a healthy lifestyle. People need to be given the tools, resources and the support to make the right choices about their health. In its Latin root “doctor” means teacher, not physician. I believe that everyone should know that the body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism and that all life and healing in our bodies comes from and is controlled by the brain. There is only one way to be fully well. And that is to give our bodies what they need, and avoid that which they do not. “Life is a gift; what we do with that gift is our gift back”.
Biography
Dr. Matthew Symons was born on September 14th 1972 in the suburbs of New York City. Dr. Symons spent the first two weeks of his life in an incubator with acute viral pneumonia. Due to this illness, his respiratory system was weakened and he came down with bronchial infections every year including two more bouts of pneumonia until the age of 17. While wrestling in high school, Dr. Symons experienced a spinal injury. After months in pain, he sought out the services of a chiropractor. After receiving adjustments to remove the pressure from his spinal nerves, Dr. Symons was well. Not only from the pain he was feeling due to the trauma, but also he has not had bronchitis or even a cold that has lasted more than a day since. It was this phenomenon that provoked Dr. Symons to seek a career in chiropractic. After doing his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona and SUNY Albany, Dr. Symons went to Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO. Following graduation, Dr. Symons interned in New Haven for one of the largest chiropractic practices in Connecticut and then interned for the largest chiropractic practice in Florida, run by Dr. Ben Lerner, founder of Maximized Living and author of two New York Times best selling books. After the clinical experience of a lifetime, Dr. Symons moved to the West Palm Beach area in September of 2001 to establish his private practice that has grown to the largest in Palm Beach county. It is his passion to teach and serve the people of his community that drives him daily. Dr. Symons Utilizes cutting-edge, spinal corrective chiropractic. He employs a nutritional counselor for basic and advanced detoxification programs, burst training exercise classes, workshops on time and stress management. His wellness center also has yoga classes, tai chi classes, and massage therapy. Dr. Symons’ youngest patient has been just a few hours old and his eldest, a centenarian. Dr. Symons patients have included professional athletes and very high profile public personalities. But mostly, Dr. Symons takes care of local families who want to get and stay healthy in an unhealthy world.
